The goal is to put an end to bullying as soon as possible and before legal action becomes necessary. The first step is to have an honest discussion with your child about bullying. Your child should know that they can inform you and other responsible adults about the treatment that they are receiving or if they observe abuse. If possible, spend time at your child’s school and at extracurricular activities to observe behavior. Do not hesitate to bring up your concerns about bullying to teachers, coaches, and other parents. It is important that you not only voice your concerns, but that you also document your concerns in writing (certified mail return receipt if necessary).
